Event Description

Paul Sheehan and Murilo Ortunho will lead a workshop and present a short participatory performance based on the outcomes of their week-long artistic residency at STAC Chapel. The public sharing will consist of a series of gestural, movement, and awareness exercises in which participants will explore how to shape their bodies, giving life to different characters through multiple references from physical theatre, dance, and the movement system of Labanotation. Schedule 1:00–4.30PM (including a 20-minute break) Bring water and a light snack. Wear comfortable clothing, preferably black or neutral colours. Open to anyone aged 18+, regardless of theatre or dance experience. Paul Sheehan recently produced his original multicultural comedy, ‘Sacred Old Cow’, at Smock Alley Theatre Dublin, as part of the Scene & Heard Festival. He was awarded Best Male Lead Performance at the Green Room Awards 2023, making his Off-Broadway debut in the lead role of Andrew in ‘My Big Gay Italian Midlife Crisis’. Onscreen, Paul is currently filming the role of Robbie in ‘Delete The Dead’, in addition to recently shooting with Toby Meakins in London on ‘The Kitchen’. Murilo Ortunho is a performer, producer, and researcher with over ten years of experience in the arts and culture field. Trained in dance and performance across Brazil, Argentina, and Ireland, he holds an MPhil in Theatre & Performance from Trinity College Dublin and a BA in Literature & Translation Studies from Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. His practice explores Practice as Research (PaR), intersemiotic translation, and eco-performance through movement-based approaches to the body, nature, and technology. Taking place at STAC Chapel, our site for experimentation and the development of new work, this residency series aims to facilitate collaboration between artists who wish to work together, but who have otherwise not had the time and/or space to do so. This residency programme is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Tipperary County Council. Spaces for this workshop are limited, so book your ticket via Eventbrite today to secure your place!
